About Us

Chhavi Bardia is an entrepreneur, living between the cities of Jaipur – the state capital and the nub of economics – where she executes her designs, dreams her design into reality, and Jodhpur holds her other end where family, administrative and financial decisions are taken and rolled off. Chhavi was raised in Jodhpur and began her adult life as a practising advocate in the High Court here running on the job most waking hours as a junior under a senior’s chamber with a vast litigation practice. Her next move was to practise with a fresh law firm in Jaipur, attracting commercial & corporate matters with greater outreach and marking her time engaging in exciting new ventures that the commercial hotspot offered. It is when the first lockdown occurred, throwing shut all institutional offices, bringing an abrupt closure to most litigation that she had been pursuing, Chhavi turned to what was doable under these imposed constraints.

She looked inward to heed to her fondness and enduring love for clothing, her own eclectic sense of dressing and pairing of outfits had always been a matter of conversation with friends. The finer details, the silhouettes and play of fabric had inspired her to make clothes for herself and others dear to her. People around her had sought her advice and eagerly awaited her discretion on clothing so it wasn’t unusual for her to give her tailor new designs as she sat and ruminated behind the locked doors of her home. The tailors had a generous patron and Chhavi built a small range of outfits that were comfortably individualistic, spoke to feminine grace and much like her own self, her clothes were pleasantly earnest. Paving their own course, her outfits began drawing admirers and her circle of friends and family placed orders enthusiastically, bringing to life’ Desii Salsa’ - a name that Chhavi chose for the duality inherent in her designs. This snowballed into her first pop up occurring in Dubai around springtime, 2021. The trunk shows have steadily taken Chhavi to Mumbai, Dubai repeatedly, Kanpur, Bangalore and other indian cities. Mens clothing began as a niche interest and escalated quickly bringing more steadfast followers than ever before.

Sketching her designs, instructing her tailoring and embellishment teams, her approach had been organic and infused with her natural passion for clothes yet she wanted a framework to buttress her own instinctive approach. That lead to a three month stint in London’s Central Saint Martin’s for an intensive course in fashion designing. Revived and re-equipped Chhavi forges ahead on her design journey to thrill and surprise her growing circle of wearers.
